Your "WHY" doesn't matter as much as you think...
A 20 year lesson on motivation and action.
Good Morning!
I train for aesthetics. I want to look good.
I train for health. I want to feel good.
I train for longevity. I want to look and feel good for a long time.
I train for mindset. I want to hold myself to standards with my body to improve my mind.
I train for athleticism. I want to keep my muscle fibers powerful.
I train for mobility. I want to feel loose and pliable.
And often, I train for one reason more than the other.
Sometimes I push hard in one area. Sometimes others.
Sometimes I feel like I should do more of one thing, and less of the other.
Sometimes I push too hard and need to ease up.
Sometimes I’m doing too little, and I need to ramp it up.
Regardless of the goal, the intensity, or the focus, I train it.
It’s never perfect, and won’t ever be.
But after 20 years of it, one lesson I’ve learned more than any other…
Is imperfect action taken trumps perfect inaction and ponderance.
There’s so much chatter and talk about WHY you should train and grow.
One guru says it’s all about mindset.
The next one says it’s all about healthspan over lifespan.
Another chimes in and talks about spiritual balance.
The dude from the balcony yells out “ALL YOU NEED IS INTERMITTENT FASTING!”
Everyone will take as much time as you give them to tell you WHY training is important, and WHAT you should be doing.
They might be right, but they’re also wrong.
Your motivation will change, your reason might change.
You might want to do more of one thing, and then it might change.
But keep taking another step, imperfectly…
And you will find yourself farther than you thought you could travel.
Much Love, Michael
